When in Doubt, Plan it Out: A Daily Schedule for Kids During the Coronavirus Quarantine

With all of the Coronavirus cancellations including schools, there’s no need to panic about what to with your kiddos. When in doubt, plan it out! Here’s a daily schedule that I plan to use with my children starting next Monday:

8am-9am: Wash hands, prepare/eat breakfast, clean dishes, wipe off counters.

9am-10am: Get some energy out! If the weather is nice, go outside and get some vitamin D. If not, here are some other ideas:

  • Do a “go noodle” video

  • Do a deck of cards workout

  • Play Simon says with exercises

10am-11am: Write a letter and/or draw a picture for a family member or a friend. When complete, address and stamp the envelope and walk it to your mailbox for pick up.

11am-12pm: FREE CHOICE ACTIVITY (and yes, this may include some screentime!)

12pm-1pm: Wash hands, prepare/eat lunch, clean dishes and wipe off counters.

1pm-2pm: Enjoy a quiet activity such as reading, drawing or listening to music with headphones.

2pm-3pm: Get physical! Go for a walk, play soccer, dance party or anything that gets your body moving.

3pm-4pm: Help your parents with chores around the house including cleaning your room.

4pm-5pm: FREE CHOICE ACTIVITY (as a reward for helping your parents!)

5pm-6pm: Wash hands, prepare/eat dinner, clean dished and wipe off counters.

6pm-7pm: Exercise your brain! Play a card or board game, read, do some math, get the synapses in your neurons excited!

I hope this helps your space BLOOM in your home for the foreseeable future.
